How do you sell people on a movie without revealing the plotline?

I’ve worked on the marketing for a number of movies Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures. Here’s one of them. The romcom: “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days”.

Challenge: The hero of this movie is a journalist who’s doing all she can to get dumped fast - so she can write an article entitled: “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days”. So how do you sell people on the movie. Without giving away key plot points?

Solution: Get people to imagine themselves in the challenge. And ask themselves - “How would I do it?”
